8 Stunning Large Mirror Ideas for Your Living Room
Over the last few months, I’ve had the privilege of helping a friend decorate some of the rooms in her home. We’ve redone her kids’ bedrooms and dining room, and recently, we started thinking about her living room. Her living room has beautiful vaulted ceilings, leaving tons of space above her fireplace. Like many of you, she had no idea how to fill the space. We toyed with using different decor items, even making our own DIY artwork. But everything we chose seemed way too small and I wanted a dramatic statement above her fireplace. That’s when we started looking for large mirror ideas.
Then, one day, as I was perusing Home Goods, I came across the most beautiful oversized mirror I’d ever seen. I immediately snagged it and had to call a delivery service to bring it to their house (it’s so big that it won’t fit in my mini-van). I knew immediately that this mirror would be a perfect focal point of her living room. What I didn’t know was whether or not it would fit.
Her living room is not a small room. It has tall ceilings and plenty of natural light, so I knew this oversized mirror would look beautiful when and if we could safely get it in place. Rather than try it myself, I did the smart thing and hired a professional to hang it. I’m glad I did because this full-length mirror is 8 feet tall and probably at least 150lbs.
It wasn’t until the very last moment when the mirror was lifted into place, that I could breathe. It fit!
Here’s the picture I took of the mirror when I saw it at Home Goods. It’s not my best photographic work, but I thought I’d come home and find a better picture online. Except, I can’t find this mirror anywhere. It’s truly a miracle that I found it in the first place. If there are any internet sleuths out there who want to try to find one, I’d welcome your help!
Here’s what it looks like hung up. Can you believe how perfectly it fits the space? I absolutely love it and I also love that you can see her kid’s toys in the reflection. As much as we try to create picture-perfect homes, our kids are always here to keep us humble!
So, in lieu of sharing this magical and mysterious Home Goods find with you, I decided to throw together a list of other large mirror ideas for you. These mirrors range greatly in price, so there’s something for everyone.
Mcqueary Flat Floor Mirror
This mirror is very close to the mirror I purchased. I love the touch of elegance that it brings to a space. I think decorative mirrors like these can make a space feel very elevated and give an illusion of more space in smaller homes.
Capelle Mirror
A big mirror like this is the perfect way to add a touch of formality to your home. The gold on this mirror is stunning and would compliment an eclectic arrangement of home decor items very nicely.

Sureau Antiqued Black Full-Length Floor Mirror 48”x72”
Let’s be honest, this mirror is very expensive. But even if we’re not going to buy it (I know I’m not), we can appreciate the interesting way it would bounce light around a room. The metal frame gives an almost old-world look. It’s not an antique mirror, but you might be able to convince someone it is.

Streamline Oversized Wide Arch Metal Floor Mirror
This mirror brings a very modern touch to any room of your home. I’ve seen a lot of this style in stores lately. A mirror like this would go well with mid-century modern furniture or as a floor mirror in your bedroom.
Astor Double Wide Rectangular Mirror
Here’s another very cool mirror that combines the modern look with the classic look of my original mirror. I really like the metal frame and think this mirror would look very cool in a kitchen or bathroom. The right mirror is an easy way to add interest to your room without adding a lot of extra decor items. Sometimes, simple is best.
Oversized Arched Mirror 70×39 – Gold Thin Frame, Explosion-Proof Glass, Full-Length
If you’re a discount shopper like I am, you’ll like these last few mirror options. This beauty from Amazon is a statement mirror if I’ve ever seen one! It would be perfect as a grand entryway mirror. Interior designers seem to really love the arched top mirrors.
Ikea HOVET
The IKEA version of an oversized mirror is much narrower than the one I purchased. However, I love the size. A fun wall mirror idea would be to turn this sideways and hang it on the wall above a console table or over a bathroom vanity.
30″ x 70″ Oversize Leaner French Country Wood Mirror Natural – Threshold™
My final choice for oversized mirrors is from everyone’s favorite store…Target! This mirror is the closest we get to a boho mirror on this list. I love mirrors with wooden frames and unique shapes, and this one is both. I can easily see this mirror in smaller entryways, surrounded by indoor plants.
If you ask me, decorative mirrors are the unsung heroes of interior design. Wall mirrors, floor mirrors, and mirrors of all different shapes and sizes can add so much to a space. They bounce natural light around the room, so you don’t have to rely as much on artificial light. Beautiful mirrors double as gorgeous decorative elements and have an essential practical use.
As you decorate your home, I encourage you to think about how you could use a large mirror to get more bang for your home decor buck. And remember, the best place to get mirror decor ideas or to find once-in-a-lifetime mirrors is at stores like TJ Maxx, Ross, Home Goods, and your local thrift store.
I hope this list of large mirror ideas helps you on your journey through the world of decorative mirrors. Remember, mirrors are much more than just a reflective surface; they’re essential home decor items that can instantly elevate your home.
